New local author’s children’s book blowing up a storm

New local author, David James’ children’s illustrated book is already blowing up a storm across the region, with Calm of the Storm now available for purchase.

Coupled with simple but captivating illustrations, the book uses cleverly formulated rhymes that embrace the five senses to walk a child through the positive and fun things that a storm can bring; and to add a little bit of fun there is a ‘find the bird’ on each spread.

David said, “The inspiration for the book came from my 2-year-old son, Sebastian. I was sitting home one night as a storm was blowing through and I started thinking about how I didn’t want him to be afraid of storms as I love them; and like a flash of lightning the idea and story began to unfold.

“I quite often hear that children, and some adults, are afraid of storms and this book aims to ease that fear.

“When I received my first copy from local printers, Willprint, I put it to the test and read it to Sebastian. I feel it got the tick of approval as he really seemed to enjoy it and he had a lot of fun searching for and pointing out the bird on the pages.”
